Lilies, Canna
Canna x generalis
I like canna lilies. They seem easy to grow, which is good for someone like me. Most of mine came from
Lowes' or Sam's annual half-price bulb sales. I love a
good plant bargain. The only problem I have with them is leaf rollers, which
tend to destroy the leaves. Wasps do a decent job of preying on these
caterpillars but I have to be vigilant and pick them off myself. The punishment
for eating my canna leaves?........become a koi and goldfish meal! I have
managed to collect viable seeds from the Yellow King Humbert and
Crimson Beauty varieties.
